Creative Thinking

ffabfutures connects art and creativity with STEM subjects, thus expanding the traditional sciences by an important factor: the power of design. As an innovative educational project, ffabfutures creates a space where children and young people can explore technology, natural sciences, and computer science in a playful and open way—without pressure, but with joy and curiosity.
A special focus is placed on actively supporting FLINTA* individuals (women, lesbians, inter*, non-binary*, trans*, and agender* persons), who often have limited access to technical subjects. By combining technology and creativity, new approaches emerge that invite participation and independent thinking.

Making Technology

At the “Code & Context” degree program, we are actively involved in the ffabfutures cluster. Together with our partners from the cultural and educational sectors—such as the Cologne Public Library, tech & teach, and the NRW Forum Düsseldorf—we offer innovative workshop formats. In these workshops, children and young people can program, experience robotics, or create digital artworks themselves. From creative tinkering opportunities to collaborative formats, we bring technology to life in a creative and engaging way. We promote sustainable and inclusive MINKT education (STEM plus creativity) and foster the ability to understand technology as a medium for creative design and social participation.

Developing OER and Training Offers

A central element of ffabfutures is the collaborative development of Open Educational Resources (OER). We work participatively on preparing and further developing selected workshops and educational materials, resulting in open and freely accessible content that benefits as many children, young people, and educators as possible in the long term.
The development of training offers complements this by supporting STEM actors in implementing MINKT topics within their own contexts. Through this open approach, we promote sustainable dissemination and further development of the educational formats beyond the project duration.
